However, as we all work hard to self isolate we tend to find ourselves with nothing to do for most of the day, especially on the weekends. As important it is to pursue social distancing, our mental health is just as important as our physical health. Staying at home for long periods of time can really take a toll on your mental state, so it’s important to find ways to stay active and stimulated as often as possible. Stay Physically Active
Working out and boosting your endorphins will have a huge impact on the way you feel. Staying active will make you happier and feel more in control of your body. Spend 30 minutes a day following your favourite online workout, whether it’s a high-intensity workout or a simple breathing exercise. Going out for a walk around your neighbourhood is another great way to clear your mind and get some exercise in. Get Some Vitamin D
Living in Egypt, we’re lucky to have amazing weather 90 percent of the year. We’re so used to being able to enjoy the sun and we sometimes take it for granted. But for us Egyptians who are often exposed, suddenly not getting the necessary Vitamin D can take a toll on us without us even realising it. If you’re lucky enough to have a garden or balcony with direct sunlight, try spending anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour sitting out. Take your favourite book or some music to pass the time. Keep a Journal
Staying at home all day can really take a toll on your mental state. It can expedite feelings of anxiety and can seriously contribute to excess overthinking. If you feel like things are getting too overwhelming, a great way to relieve stress is to write down your thoughts. A daily journal is a great way to remove thoughts from your mind and will allow you to clearly and effectively process the way you’re feeling. Spend 10 minutes a day writing down anything from what you’ve done, to how you feel, or what you hope to achieve in the future.
